Cookfella's Bar & Eatery
Tucked away at 2 Westgate, Guisborough TS14 6BA, Cookfella's Bar & Eatery is the kind of place you stumble into once and find yourself returning to again and again. It’s effortlessly stylish, yet welcoming-somewhere between a modern gastropub and a cozy neighborhood spot where you feel instantly at ease. Whether you're in the mood for a laid-back lunch, an indulgent dinner, or just a cheeky cocktail and a small plate, this place manages to deliver on all fronts.
The menu? Let’s just say it reads like a love letter to comfort food with a creative twist. The Seafood Platter is a top pick for those who like to share-a generous, crowd-pleasing selection that often includes crispy Whitebait, melt-in-the-mouth Scallops, and perfectly fried Squid. Not into seafood? No worries. The Chicken Parmesan-or “Chicken Parm” as it's fondly called by the regulars-has its own cult following, served golden, cheesy, and always satisfying.
Meat lovers will also want to zero in on dishes like the Steak and Cheese Flatbread, the flavor-packed Beef Jambalaya, or the Pulled Ham and Manchego Croquettes, which strike the perfect balance between salty, rich, and indulgent. For something a little different, the Poulet Breton offers a French farmhouse twist-rustic, creamy, and full of soul.
Vegetarians and lighter appetites aren’t left out either. The Feta in Filo Pastry is an absolute treat-crispy, tangy, and ideal with a glass of Chardonnay from their thoughtfully curated wine list. Those looking for something to nibble on with drinks can’t go wrong with the Onion Rings or the Sea Salt & Chilli Chicken Wings-the kind of bar bites that make you order a second round just to keep the good vibes going.
Speaking of drinks, Cookfella’s does a standout job of catering to everyone’s preferences. From great beer selections on tap to classic cocktails with a modern flair, there’s always something worth raising a glass to. If you’re more into coffee or tea, the place doesn’t skimp-expect great coffee, a strong tea menu, and a laid-back atmosphere that makes lingering easy.
Now, let’s talk desserts. The Salted Caramel Cheesecake is what dreams are made of-rich, smooth, with just the right amount of salt to cut through the sweetness. Prefer something fruity? The Yorkshire Rhubarb & Custard Trifle is as British as it gets, and every spoonful feels like home. For a touch of elegance, the White Chocolate Panna Cotta comes in silky smooth, beautifully plated, and just the right amount of sweet.
One of the things I genuinely admire about Cookfella’s is its accessibility and welcoming setup. Wheelchair users can easily access the entrance, seating, and toilets, though it’s worth noting there’s no designated wheelchair-accessible car park. The outdoor seating area is a nice bonus when the sun’s out, perfect for enjoying a pint or a quick bite with friends. It's also one of those rare places that manages to offer both vegetarian and vegan dishes alongside small plates, spirits, and healthy options, making it incredibly versatile depending on your mood-or your crowd.
It’s clear why Cookfella’s is popular for both lunch and dinner, and it’s just as suited for a casual solo dining experience as it is for a small group night out. With a strong identity that blends neighborhood charm with elevated flavors, it’s a place that confidently holds its own in Guisborough’s food scene.
Whether you’re diving into a cheese platter with a glass of wine, grabbing a quick lunch, or settling in for an evening of cocktails and small plates, Cookfella’s Bar & Eatery brings personality, flavor, and a warm, relaxed energy that makes it feel like your new favorite local.

Great place Cookfella’s. Heart of the Guisborough community. Middle of Westgate! A few menus to choose from! Plenty of choice! Meat, Fish and Veggie! Cooked fresh to order. Waiting time about 25 minutes which is spot on really, enough time for a few sips of your Aperol Spritz and a catch up with what went on at your partners work that day! Food came. Presented wonderfully! Tasted amazing! We’re going each Wednesday to work our way through their menus. £40 approx for 2 people. That’s 2 mains and 2 alcoholic beverages. Pretty decent I’d say! Cookfella’s - recommended by me lol!
